Navigating Permits, Regulations, and Legal Requirements in Colorado Roofing

When it comes to roofing in Colorado, it’s not just about materials and installation. Any roofing project—whether it’s a full replacement or a significant repair—must comply with local permits, building codes, and inspection requirements. These rules are not optional, and ignoring them can lead to fines, failed inspections, and problems with insurance or property resale. At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we handle this part of the process carefully because it directly affects the safety, legality, and long-term performance of your roof. Do You Need a Permit for Roofing Work in Colorado? In most cases, yes. Across Colorado, permits are generally required for full roof replacements and larger repairs, while minor repairs may be exempt depending on size and scope. For example, many jurisdictions require a permit when repairs exceed around 100–200 square feet or a certain percentage of the roof. Because rules vary by city and county, there is no single statewide standard. What is required in Colorado Springs may differ slightly from Denver or other municipalities. What does not change is this: A full roof replacement always requires a permit Larger repairs typically require permits Small, localized repairs may not—but should always be verified first Why Permits and Inspections Matter Across Colorado, permits are generally required for full roof replacements and larger repairs, while minor repairs may be exempt depending on size and scope. For example, many jurisdictions require a permit when repairs exceed around 100–200 square feet or a certain percentage of the roof. What does not change is this: A full roof replacement always requires a permit Larger repairs typically require permits Small, localized repairs may not—but should always be verified first Building Codes and Roofing Requirements Colorado follows versions of the International Residential Code (IRC) and International Building Code (IBC), but local jurisdictions apply their own adaptations. Some common code-related requirements include: Minimum fire ratings for roofing materials (often Class A in many areas) Proper underlayment and ice protection in colder climates Adequate ventilation and drainage systems Structural requirements for snow load in certain regions Because Colorado includes high-altitude and heavy snow areas, these requirements are not just formalities—they directly affect how your roof performs over time. Who Is Responsible for Pulling the Permit In most cases, the contractor performing the work is responsible for obtaining the permit before starting the project. Homeowners can technically pull permits themselves, but doing so usually means: You take full responsibility for the work You must follow all code requirements directly You cannot legally hire a contractor under that permit in many cases Once the permit is issued, the project must pass a final inspection. This step confirms the roof was installed correctly and meets local building codes. Without it, the work is not considered compliant. This is one of the main reasons working with a licensed, local contractor matters—they already understand the process and requirements. Local Experience Matters Permits and regulations are there to make sure your roof is built safely and correctly for Colorado conditions. The key is handling the process properly from the start. At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we take care of permits, inspections, and code compliance as part of every project, so you don’t have to deal with the details or the risk. If you’re planning a roofing project, reach out for an inspection and a straightforward assessment of what’s required.

How to Identify and Avoid Roofing Scams in Colorado

Roofing scams and storm chasers can spread after a major storm hits Colorado. Out-of-state contractors show up overnight, promising fast repairs and unbeatable prices—but more often than not, those promises come with hidden risks. For homeowners, these scams can lead to incomplete jobs, poor workmanship, or even legal trouble. Roofing scams are on the rise in Colorado, especially during hail season. If you’re not familiar with what to look for, it’s easy to fall into a trap. Below are the most common scams we’ve encountered and how to avoid them. Storm Chasers These are crews that travel from state to state, following storm damage. They go door to door offering roof repairs, often pushing for a quick signature. Once the job is done—or halfway done—they’re gone, and the homeowner is left dealing with the consequences. To avoid this, ask for a Colorado business license, a permanent local address, and local references. A legitimate company will be transparent and easy to verify. Upfront payment scams Some contractors ask for full payment or a large deposit before doing any work. Once they have the money, they either disappear or cut corners using low-quality materials. A reasonable deposit is normal, but full payment upfront is not. Always use a traceable payment method and make sure your contract clearly outlines the scope of work. Insurance Fraud Some companies will offer to “cover your deductible” or inflate your insurance claim. This is illegal in Colorado and can put you at risk with your insurance provider. You should always stay involved in your claim and work with a contractor who follows the process correctly—not someone trying to work around it. Fake or Misleading Warranties Long warranties mean nothing if the company isn’t around to honor them. Some contractors use warranty language to close deals, without backing it with manufacturer certification. Make sure warranties are documented and tied to recognized manufacturers, not just verbal promises. What to Look for in a Reliable Roofing Company A trustworthy roofing company will be licensed, insured, and locally established. They will provide clear communication, written estimates, and realistic timelines without pressure tactics. At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we focus on doing the job properly from the start. No shortcuts, no rushed decisions, and no surprises along the way. If you’re unsure about a contractor or want a second opinion, we offer free inspections and honest assessments so you can make the right decision for your home.

You shouldn’t overlook attic ventilation in Colorado

In Colorado, attic ventilation isn’t just about comfort—it’s about controlling how your roof behaves under extreme conditions. With high altitude sun exposure, your roof can heat up quickly even in winter, causing uneven snow melt. That meltwater then refreezes at the colder eaves, creating ice dams that force water back under the shingles. At the same time, large temperature swings between day and night can trap condensation inside the attic if airflow is limited. A properly designed ventilation system keeps the roof deck at a more consistent temperature, reducing thermal stress, preventing moisture buildup, and helping the entire roofing system perform the way it was designed to. Without that balance, even a brand-new roof can start failing earlier than expected. Proper ventilation allows heat and moisture to escape your attic space. In the summer, this prevents excessive heat buildup that can prematurely age shingles and increase cooling costs. In the winter, balanced airflow helps prevent ice dams by keeping roof temperatures consistent. Without proper ventilation, you risk: Mold and mildew growth Warped decking and framing Reduced shingle lifespan Higher energy bills year-round We install and upgrade ridge vents, soffit vents, gable vents, and powered ventilation systems based on your home’s design and local building codes. Proper airflow isn’t optional in Colorado—it’s essential. A Smarter Roof Is a Longer-Lasting Roof Strong ventilation makes your home more more durable, and better prepared for Colorado’s climate. We don’t just install roofs. We build roofing systems that perform. If you’re interested in improving attic ventilation, Done Right Roofing and Exteriors is ready to help you in here Colorado. We combine modern solutions with proven workmanship so your roof protects, performs, and adds value. Contact us today to schedule an inspection or consultation.

Innovative Roofing Solutions: Solar Roofing and Attic Ventilation in Colorado

At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we’re committed to more than just replacing shingles—we help Colorado homeowners build smarter, more energy-efficient homes starting from the top down. That’s why we offer innovative roofing solutions like solar integration and attic ventilation systems that improve comfort, cut energy costs, and extend the life of your roof. Colorado’s intense sun, dramatic temperature swings, and high-altitude UV exposure all make roofing technology more important than ever. By thinking beyond just the outer layer of your roof, you can get more value, better performance, and a home that works with the environment—not against it. Here’s how solar roofing can make a difference. Solar Roofing: Power and Protection in One Solar roofing isn’t just for eco-friendly trendsetters anymore. With rising utility costs and major incentives from both federal and state programs, more Colorado homeowners are choosing to harness the power of the sun directly from their roofs. There are two main options: Traditional Solar Panels: Installed on top of your roof to generate electricity that powers your home or offsets your electric bill. They’re highly efficient and compatible with most roofing systems. Integrated Solar Shingles or Tiles: Built directly into the roofing system, these products serve as both a weather barrier and a power source. They offer a cleaner, low-profile appearance while still delivering long-term energy savings. At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we assess your roof’s structure, sun exposure, pitch, and overall condition before recommending solar integration. There’s no point installing panels on a roof that may need replacement in a few years. We make sure the foundation is solid first. Benefits of Solar Roofing in Colorado Long-term energy bill savings Eligibility for federal tax credits and local incentives Increased home value Protection against rising utility costs Reduced environmental impact If you’re considering solar, we can coordinate with your solar provider or connect you with a trusted partner. We ensure the roofing and solar systems work together—not against each other.

Comprehensive Support for Roofing Insurance Claims in Colorado

Dealing with roof damage is stressful enough. Dealing with insurance companies on top of that? Even worse. At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we know how overwhelming the claims process can be—especially after a major storm hits your neighborhood.  That’s why we provide full support for roofing insurance claims across Colorado. From the first inspection to the final shingle, we help homeowners document damage, communicate with adjusters, and make sure the work gets done properly—without unnecessary delays or confusion.  Here’s what you need to know about navigating roofing insurance claims, and how we make the process smoother from start to finish.  When Should You File an Insurance Claim for Roof Damage?  If your roof has been affected by hail, wind, falling debris, or a major storm event, you may be entitled to insurance coverage for repairs or full replacement. Common signs that justify a claim include:  Missing, torn, or dented shingles Leaks in your attic or ceilings Granule loss or shingle deterioration Dented flashing, gutters, or roof vents  Tree limbs or branches impacting the roof  It’s important to act quickly—most policies require you to report damage within a certain time frame after the event, usually within 12 to 24 months depending on the policy and carrier.  What’s the Process for a Roof Insurance Claim in Colorado? We guide homeowners through the following steps: Free Roof Inspection We start by inspecting your roof and documenting the damage with detailed photos and notes. We know exactly what insurance companies look for, and we’ll give you a clear, honest assessment. Filing the Claim You contact your insurance provider and open a claim. If needed, we can help you communicate the technical aspects and describe the nature of the damage. Meeting the Adjuster Your insurance company will send out an adjuster to inspect the roof. We’ll meet them on-site to ensure they see all the relevant damage and understand the full scope of work required. Claim Approval and Estimate Review Once your claim is approved, your insurance provider will issue a loss summary (the estimate of what they’re willing to pay). We’ll review it to make sure everything necessary is covered and priced appropriately. Roof Repair or Replacement We get to work using the proper materials and following local building codes. We keep you updated throughout the process and ensure all work is completed to your satisfaction. Final Paperwork and Warranties Once your project is complete, we provide all required documentation, warranty information, and final invoices for your insurance records. Understanding Insurance Terms Many Colorado homeowners are surprised to learn that roof claims are often split into two payments: ACV (Actual Cash Value): What your roof is worth today, after depreciation RCV (Replacement Cost Value): The total amount to replace your roof, including depreciation—usually released after proof of completed work We help you understand what you’re entitled to, and make sure you’re not leaving money on the table. Why Choose Done Right Roofing and Exteriors We’ve worked with all major insurance companies across Colorado and understand their processes inside and out. We don’t manipulate claims or promise to “waive your deductible”—that’s illegal in Colorado and can get both homeowners and contractors into trouble.  Instead, we give you honest, knowledgeable support so you feel confident throughout the process. We make sure the work we do meets or exceeds the standards set by your policy, and we never compromise on quality or safety just to match an underwritten estimate.  With us, you don’t just get a contractor—you get a partner who knows how to get the job done right, legally, and professionally.

Preventive Maintenance and Snow Management for Colorado Roofs

Colorado homes face some of the toughest roof challenges in the country. Between hail in the spring, heavy snowfall in the winter, and strong UV exposure year-round, your roof is always under pressure. At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we believe that the best way to avoid costly repairs is to take care of problems before they start. Preventive maintenance of your roof is one of the most important things you can do to protect your home. A little attention each year can help you avoid leaks, structural damage, and major out-of-pocket expenses. In a climate like Colorado’s, it’s not optional—it’s essential. Why Preventive Maintenance Matters Many homeowners don’t think about their roof until something goes wrong. But by then, water may have already made its way into the attic or behind the walls. Regular inspections help catch small issues like loose shingles, minor flashing damage, or clogged gutters before they turn into expensive repairs. Our team recommends inspecting your roof at least once a year and always after major storms. We look for signs of wear, water intrusion, wind damage, and any other issues that might go unnoticed from the ground. Snow might look harmless when it’s fresh, but when it piles up on your roof, it can create serious problems. Ice dams—caused when snow melts and refreezes at the eaves—can force water under your shingles. That leads to leaks, wood rot, and mold. Snow can also add significant weight to your roof. In extreme cases, that can cause structural stress or damage, especially on older roofs or flat roofs without proper drainage. We offer snow management services that include safe snow removal, ice dam prevention, and roof ventilation solutions. We also inspect attics for proper insulation and airflow—two major factors that influence how snow melts and refreezes on your roof. What We Recommend Annual roof inspections, especially before winter and after major storms Cleaning gutters and downspouts to prevent blockages and water overflow Checking attic ventilation and insulation to reduce ice dam risk Promptly sealing any small roof penetrations (vents, pipes, flashing) Having snow safely removed when accumulation becomes excessive These steps are small investments that go a long way toward protecting your roof—and everything beneath it. Why Choose Done Right Roofing and Exteriors We’re here year-round to help homeowners protect their roofs with proactive maintenance and smart seasonal services. Our inspections are detailed, honest, and focused on giving you the information you need—not pressuring you into unnecessary repairs. We understand Colorado roofs because we work on them every day. If you want peace of mind before the next snowstorm or just want to get ahead of your home maintenance this year, we’re here to help. Contact Done Right Roofing and Exteriors today to schedule your annual inspection or ask about our snow management services. A little prevention now can save you thousands later.

Why Roof Inspections Add Years to Your Roof’s Life (and Save You Thousands)

Do you think about your roof only when there’s a leak, missing shingles, or a storm damaged it? But by the time you see those warning signs, the damage has often been building for months or even years. A professional roof inspection can catch small problems early, extend the lifespan of your roof, and help you avoid the expense of a full replacement long before it is truly needed. Why “Looks Fine” Can Be Misleading A roof can appear perfectly healthy from the ground while hiding serious vulnerabilities. Shingles may be cracked or bruised by hail. Flashing around chimneys and vents may have pulled away. Tiny leaks can allow moisture to enter, leading to rot or mold inside your attic. By the time these issues become visible indoors, repairs are far more expensive. How Inspections Extend Roof Life Small repairs, big results: Replacing a handful of shingles or resealing flashing can prevent water infiltration that would otherwise cut your roof’s life short. Preventing escalation: A minor repair today can stop a costly replacement tomorrow. Maximizing materials: Regular care helps shingles last closer to their full intended lifespan, sometimes adding five to ten years before replacement becomes necessary. The Cost-Savings Add Up Skipping inspections might feel like saving money, but in reality it is the opposite.Minor issue caught early: $200–$500Ignored damage leading to structural repairs: $5,000–$10,000+Premature full roof replacement: $12,000–$20,000+ Insurance companies in Colorado often require proof of storm-related damage within a set timeframe. Without a prompt inspection, you could lose coverage that might have paid for repairs or replacement. When Is the Right Time for a Roof Inspection? After severe weather: In Colorado Springs, hailstorms, heavy snow, and high winds are common. Even if your roof looks fine from the ground, shingles may be bruised or flashing may be lifted. An inspection after a major storm can reveal hidden issues while they are still covered by insurance. Every 1–2 years as preventive care: Think of it like a check-up for your home. Even if there has been no major storm, a roof endures strong UV rays, freeze-thaw cycles, and gusty winds at altitude. An inspection every other year is a smart habit. After 10 years of roof age: Once a roof passes the 10-year mark, wear accelerates. Shingles lose granules, seals dry out, and small leaks become more likely. At this stage, annual inspections are recommended. When buying or selling a home: An inspection gives peace of mind and can help avoid last-minute surprises in a real estate transaction. Protecting Colorado Springs Homes At 6,000 feet, roofs take a beating. The combination of hail, intense sun, snow, and freeze-thaw cycles is harsher here than in most parts of the country. That is why regular inspections are not just optional—they are essential for protecting your home and your budget. Schedule Your Roof Inspection Even if everything looks fine today, a professional inspection can give you peace of mind and extend the life of your roof for years. Done Right Roofing & Exteriors helps Colorado Springs families protect their homes.  Call today to schedule your inspection and make sure your roof is ready for whatever the weather brings next.

End-of-Summer Roof Checklist: 7 Things Colorado Springs Homeowners Should Do Before Fall

Do you think your roof is perfectly fine? Have you ever heard of someone having roof problems at the worst possible time—like right when the weather starts to get colder, or around the first snow? And yet, just weeks earlier, the roof seemed “perfectly fine.”  The truth is, many roofing issues build up silently over the summer—damaged shingles, poor ventilation, hidden leaks. The good news? Most of them can be caught early with a quick seasonal check. So why not take a moment to inspect your roof while we still have a few weeks of warm weather left?  Use this end-of-summer checklist to make sure your home is ready for fall—and avoid expensive surprises when the seasons change. Roof Checklist Before Summer Ends  Inspect for Missing or Damaged Shingles  High heat and hail can loosen or crack shingles. Even one damaged section can allow water to seep in once rain or snow returns. Use binoculars from the ground or call a professional to inspect the roof safely.  Check for Signs of Granule Loss  Granules protect your shingles from sun exposure. If you see an unusual amount of grit collecting in your gutters or around your downspouts, your shingles may be wearing out faster than expected.  Clear Gutters and Downspouts  Gutters full of debris can’t do their job. Clogged systems can cause water to back up under shingles or freeze in winter, leading to ice dams. Cleaning them out now is one of the easiest ways to protect your roof and siding.  Look for Signs of Sagging or Pooling  Flat spots or visible sags may point to poor drainage or structural problems under the surface. Addressing these early can prevent serious damage before snow load becomes a risk.  Inspect Flashing Around Vents and Chimneys  Flashing is a common failure point. Check that it’s securely sealed and not rusted, warped, or lifting. Small gaps around chimneys or roof vents can quickly become water entry points during fall storms.  Check Attic Ventilation and Insulation  A properly ventilated attic helps regulate roof temperature and prevents condensation. Make sure vents aren’t blocked and insulation hasn’t shifted. Good airflow helps extend the life of your roof and keeps your energy bills in check.  Schedule a Professional Roof Inspection  If you’re not sure what to look for—or just want expert eyes on your roof before the weather turns—a professional inspection is your best bet. It’s quick, often free, and could save you thousands down the line.  Colorado Springs weather can change quickly, and roof damage often shows up when it’s too late to prevent it. Taking an hour now to walk through this checklist—or scheduling a quick inspection—can protect your home through the fall and winter months.  If you want peace of mind heading into the colder season, Done Right Roofing & Exteriors offers free inspections, honest advice, and experienced local service.  Call now or request your free estimate today.

The Hidden Costs of Ignoring Your Roof

The Hidden Costs of Ignoring Your Roof: Why Waiting Can Cost You More  Your roof doesn’t complain loudly when something’s wrong. It doesn’t flash warning lights or send a notification to your phone (probably we are getting there). When a roof it’s damaged—or aging—and you don’t act, the consequences tend to show up fast, expensive, and right when you least expect and probably when that expense wasn’t plan, right? Whether it’s a small leak that turns into mold damage, or missing shingles that lead to structural rot, putting off a roof inspection or repair can cost you far more than you think. Here’s what homeowners in Colorado Springs need to know about the true cost of neglecting their roof. Signs that your roof needs a check up!  Water Damage Is Expensive—and Often Invisible at First A single loose shingle or cracked flashing can allow moisture to seep in slowly. That moisture can rot wood, soak insulation, damage drywall, and even weaken your home’s structural framing. And by the time you see the stains or feel the draft, the damage is already done. Average cost to repair water-damaged ceilings, insulation, and framing: $2,000–$10,000+  Mold and Mildew Thrive in Hidden Roof Leaks When water gets in but can’t dry out, it creates a perfect environment for mold. That’s not just a structural issue—it’s a health risk. Mold remediation costs add up quickly, especially if it spreads to multiple rooms or the HVAC system. Average mold removal cost: $1,500–$6,000+  Possible health cost: respiratory irritation, asthma, allergy symptoms  Insurance Might Not Cover Negligence Many homeowners assume their insurance will cover any roof-related damage. But if an adjuster determines that the damage resulted from neglect—or that you failed to maintain the roof—you may be denied coverage. That could leave you paying out of pocket for repairs that would have been preventable. Energy Bills Climb with a Damaged Roof Missing shingles, poor ventilation, or old flashing can all affect your home’s energy efficiency. Heat escapes in winter, and your A/C works harder in summer. You might not notice it right away, but over time, higher energy bills quietly eat into your wallet. Average monthly increase: 10%–30% on energy costs, depending on the damage  Small Repairs Become Full Replacements What might cost a few hundred dollars to fix now—like a flashing issue or isolated shingle repair—can snowball into a full roof replacement if ignored. The longer you wait, the more widespread the damage becomes, and the fewer parts of the roof are salvageable. Preventative repair: $250–$1,200  Emergency replacement: $8,000–$20,000+  Damage Can Lower Your Property Value If you’re planning to sell your home, a poorly maintained roof will show up in the inspection report and hurt your bargaining power. Buyers may demand a price drop—or walk away entirely. Ignoring your roof doesn’t save money. It delays it—then multiplies it. The real cost of neglect isn’t just financial; it’s about peace of mind, safety, and avoiding chaos when the next storm hits.  If you’re not sure about your roof’s condition, now’s the time to act. Done Right Roofing & Exteriors offers free inspections in Colorado Springs, no pressure and no guesswork.  Request your inspection today—and catch problems before they cost you.

Best Roofing Companies in Colorado Springs_ How to Choose the Right One for Your Home

Understand the Warranties Offered  Not all roofing warranties are created equal. A reliable roofing company in Colorado Springs should offer both a manufacturer’s warranty (covering the roofing materials) and a workmanship warranty (covering the installation itself). These warranties protect your investment and give you peace of mind if issues arise months or even years after the job is done. Be sure to understand what’s included—and what’s not. What to look for: Clear documentation of manufacturer and labor warranties Length of coverage (typically 10–30 years for materials, 2–10 years for labor) Written terms, not just verbal promises Done Right Roofing & Exteriors stands behind every roof we install, offering warranties that reflect our commitment to long-term quality. Get a Detailed Written Estimate A trustworthy roofing company will provide a clear, written estimate before any work begins—no vague pricing, no surprise fees. In Colorado Springs, where hail damage and insurance claims are common, it’s especially important to understand exactly what you’re paying for.  Your estimate should break down materials, labor, cleanup, permit costs, and any optional upgrades. If something isn’t clear, ask questions. Transparency is a sign of professionalism.  What your estimate should include:  Type and brand of roofing materials Scope of work (e.g., tear-off, underlayment, ventilation) Timeline and payment schedule Cleanup and disposal details   At Done Right Roofing & Exteriors, we walk you through every line of your estimate, so you know exactly what to expect—before the work starts.  Avoid Storm Chasers After a hailstorm or major weather event, Colorado Springs often sees an influx of “storm chasers”—out-of-town roofing crews who go door-to-door offering quick fixes. While some may seem legitimate, many disappear once the job is done, leaving behind poor workmanship and no way to claim a warranty.  Choosing a locally based, established company ensures accountability and follow-through if problems arise later. Local roofers are also more familiar with Colorado Springs building codes, permitting, and inspection processes.  Red flags to avoid:  High-pressure sales tactics after a storm No local address or physical presence Demanding full payment upfront   At Done Right Roofing & Exteriors, we live and work in the same communities we serve—and we’ll be here long after the storm clears. Final Thoughts: Choose a Roofing Company You Can Trust  Finding the best roofing company in Colorado Springs isn’t just about price—it’s about trust, experience, and lasting quality. A good roofer will guide you through the process, help you understand your options, and deliver results that stand up to Colorado’s demanding climate. At Done Right Roofing & Exteriors, we take pride in helping homeowners across Colorado Springs, Monument, Falcon, and Fountain protect what matters most—with honest service, durable materials, and local expertise you can count on. Hail Season in Colorado: Why You Need a Roofing Partner You Can Trust

It is hail season here in Colorado, and with the storms sweeping in, it is important to have a trustworthy roofing company by your side. Hail can be destructive to a roof, and it can be anything from cosmetic to severe. The size and speed of the hail can determine how bad the damage is and the type of materials that will be best used for repair. In recent years, hail damage has affected over 6.2 million properties in the United States, and only about 500,000 people file claims and report their damage. This can lead to future roofing problems and further deterioration of the roof that covers your home, which can be even more costly down the road. Why Hail Damage Is Often Overlooked Deciding how severe the damages are can be hard for an untrained eye. These types of damage can look like loosening, shedding of protective granules, bruising, cracking, splitting, and even leaking. Some cracks and bruising are not as easy to find as some big holes and crevasses may be. When it is obvious that we have damage, we call for help and find a roofer that will help solve our issues—but we neglect to find help if we don’t see the issue right away. So it is important that when you hear the storm and have questions about the integrity of your roof, it’s best to have a professional take a look. Insurance Deadlines Matter When it comes to insurance companies, you only have a limited time to file a claim before you end up having to pay out of pocket. Putting off your inspection can lead to more damage and more money spent. Dealing with insurance companies and their fine print can be a hassle, especially when you don’t know what you are doing. Some American families pay an average of $6,000 to repair their roof because they waited too long to report their damage and the insurance company denied the claims. We’re Here to Help, Start to Finish We are a local roofing contractor with extensive experience in handling hail damage and insurance companies. Our team of professionals works hand in hand with your insurance company to file claims and ensure the process is as easy as possible with little to no cost. From the first inspection to the final touches, we work hard so you don’t have to.

Extend Your Roof’s Life—Without Replacing It

The Challenge Over time, even the best roofs begin to show their age.Cracked shingles, granule loss, minor leaks, and soft spots can all signal that your roof is under stress. And while a full replacement is sometimes necessary, it’s not always the right move—especially if your roof still has a decent structure. There are many options to extend your roof’s lifespan without the major cost of tearing everything off and starting over. One of the most effective and affordable tools in this category is roof coating systems, especially shingle-preserving protective coatings. What Are Roof Coatings for Shingles? Roof coatings are specialized liquid-applied treatments—often acrylic or silicone-based—that are designed to adhere to your existing shingles and form a protective barrier. They’re typically transparent, meaning they don’t change the appearance of your roof, but they do enhance its performance. Think of it like a “seal and shield” approach: once applied, the coating fills in microscopic cracks, improves water resistance, helps prevent UV damage, and slows down the loss of protective granules. The result? A roof that can last 5 to 10 years longer with just a fraction of the cost of replacement. How They Work  Application is straightforward for a trained professional. After a thorough cleaning and inspection, the liquid coating is sprayed or rolled onto the roof. As it dries, it bonds to the surface of the shingles, creating a flexible, waterproof layer that resists cracking, peeling, and moisture intrusion. Importantly, many of these coatings are breathable—allowing vapor to escape from inside the roof structure while still keeping rain and condensation out. Protective coatings are gaining popularity for good reason: Cost savings: Extending roof life is significantly more affordable than full replacement. Energy efficiency: Many coatings reflect sunlight, helping reduce attic temperatures and cooling costs—especially in warmer climates. Moisture protection: They add an extra layer of defense against leaks, especially in aging or weather-worn areas. Environmental benefits: Fewer roofs going to the landfill means less waste and a smaller environmental footprint. Peace of mind: These coatings slow down the clock, giving you time to plan and budget for eventual replacement. No solution fits every situation. These treatments are best suited for roofs that are structurally sound but starting to show surface wear. If the shingles are too brittle, severely curled, or the roof deck is compromised, coating won’t be enough. That’s why a professional roof inspection is always the first step. A reputable contractor will let you know whether a coating is a safe, effective option—or if your roof is past the point of saving. A roof that can last 5 to 10 years longer with just a fraction of the cost of replacement Let’s Get Your Roof Done Right In Colorado, our roofs take a beating—intense sun, hailstorms, snow, and sudden temperature swings can all shorten the life of your shingles. That’s why it pays to be proactive. Protective coatings, regular inspections, and preventative maintenance can help you avoid emergency repairs and buy time before a full replacement. If your roof is aging but still structurally sound, this could be the solution you’ve been looking for. Let’s take a look. Contact us team for a full inspection and personalized recommendations. Commercial Roof Rescue: From Leaks to Long-Term Protection

The Challenge A prominent attorney’s office located in a commercial complex was experiencing widespread roof leaks, threatening daily operations and sensitive documents. The roof, a Hot Tar and Gravel Ballast system, was over 30 years old and well beyond its effective lifespan. The client needed urgent repairs, along with a more modern and energy-efficient roofing solution. They selected Conklin’s Rapid Roof® III Coating System for its durability, performance, and energy-saving properties. Our Approach Our team mobilized quickly and conducted a comprehensive site assessment. We confirmed that the existing roofing layers were deteriorated and unsuitable for repair alone. We developed a full replacement strategy utilizing the Rapid Roof® III system to ensure long-term protection and value. We began by removing the existing gravel and top layers, exposing the original hot tar-modified plies. After identifying the sources of the leaks, we applied the Rapid Roof® III Base Coat, embedded SpunFlex® Polyester Reinforcement Fabric into the base coat for added strength, and completed the system with a seamless layer of Rapid Roof® III Top Coat in reflective white. Why These Materials? We don’t expect homeowners to be roofing experts, so here’s the breakdown: The Rapid Roof® III Base Coat is the workhorse of the Conklin roof coatings line, Rapid Roof® has proven itself with 40 years of trouble-free service. This system carries a UL Class A fire classification. Rapid Roof® III in standard white provides an 85% reflective, tack-free, dirt-resistant finish. Full Exterior Makeover: Roofing, Windows, Stonework & Fencing

At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we don’t just handle roofs—we help homeowners transform their properties into spaces that look better, work better, and last longer. In one of our recent residential projects, the client came to us with a big vision: upgrade the entire exterior of their home. They wanted better energy efficiency, stronger protection from the elements, and a cleaner, more modern look that they could be proud of. The Challenge The client wanted to completely change the face of their home. That meant a full roof replacement, new windows, redoing the front brick with a stone veneer accent, a new paint job, and installing fencing to complete the look and security of the property. On top of that, they needed everything to work together visually and functionally—and be built to last. Our Approach We mapped out the project in stages, making sure each part of the job flowed into the next without delay. Over the course of about three weeks, we completed: A full roof replacement, using an Owen’s Corning TruDefinition® Duration STORM Class 4 Impact-Resistant Shingles featuring patented WeatherGuard® Technology. The integrated polymeric backing material of the Weather Guard® Technology allows Duration STORM® Shingles to meet one of the industry’s highest ratings for impact resistance, UL 2218, Class 41. These shingles also feature SureNail® Technology for high-performance durability and outstanding gripping power. New windows throughout the home with Windows by Anderson 100 Series Windows made with composite material known as Fibrex® to help cut down on energy bills keeping the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter A new stone veneer and brick front, with paint to match and pull it all together A retaining wall to improve the shape and structure of the front yard A mix of chain link fencing in the front and wood fencing along the side and back Why These Materials? We don’t expect homeowners to know all the construction terms, so here’s what you need to know: We used an Owen’s Corning TruDefinition® Duration STORM Class 4 Impact-Resistant Shingles featuring patented WeatherGuard® Technology for the roof. That’s a fancy way of saying it’s one of the toughest shingles on the market. It’s tested to hold up better against hail and flying debris, which means less chance of damage during storms and longer life for your roof. For our area, where weather can hit hard, this is a smart investment. It can even qualify some homeowners for discounts on their insurance. The windows we installed were Windows by Anderson 100 Series Windows made with composite material known as Fibrex®. They aren’t just about looks—they’re energy-efficient. With a Storm Window in between, they keep heat in during the winter and keep the house cool during the summer. You’ll notice the difference on your energy bill and in how comfortable your home feels day to day. The paint we used was Sherwin Williams Duration® Exterior Acrylic Latex Paint. Duration Premium Exterior Coating is formulated with PermaLast® technology and infused with advanced acrylic co-polymers for long-lasting performance. Duration is self-priming and provides a mildew-resistance coating and allows you to achieve stunning exterior results that stand the test of time. The stone veneer on the front of the home added a custom, upscale touch. Achieving a natural stone panel look at a more affordable price. And offering spectacular stone beauty. Plus, as the seasons change, they do not have to be maintained because the durable and resilient polyurethane material provides excellent resistance to extreme weather conditions, moisture, and pests—just like real stone panels. We worked with the client to pick a color and texture that matched the new roof and paint, creating a modern, cohesive look from the street. The retaining wall wasn’t just decorative—it helped support the slope in the front yard and gave the entrance more structure and character. For fencing, we installed chain link in the front for visibility and openness, and cedar wood on the sides and back for privacy. It gave the home security without making it feel closed off. We believe that a beautiful home should also be a smart, solid, and practical home. The Result When we were done, the home looked brand new. But more importantly, it worked better—better insulation, stronger protection, and way less upkeep in the future. The client was thrilled with the results. They felt like they had a completely different home—one that finally matched their style and gave them the performance they needed year-round. At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors Inc, one of our specialties is knowing how to match great design with long-lasting functionality. It’s not just about making a home look good on the outside—it’s about making it work better from the inside out. Anyone can slap on new siding or paint, but if the materials don’t hold up or help the home perform, you’re back to square one in a couple of years. That’s why we only use materials that offer both visual appeal and real-world benefits—like energy savings, better moisture control, storm resistance, and less maintenance. Because when you invest in your home’s exterior, you’re not just upgrading for looks—you’re improving your comfort, efficiency, and long-term property value. We believe that a beautiful home should also be a smart, solid, and practical home. And that’s exactly what we delivered here. Even though this was a big project, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for us. Whether we’re working on one fence panel or transforming an entire property, we follow the same high standards. Our team works efficiently, communicates clearly, and brings the same level of care to every single job. That’s just how we do things—no shortcuts, no fluff, no excuses. Let’s Talk About Your Project Thinking about upgrading your roof, windows, or exterior?

Roofing and Fencing Project for Stone Creek Charter School

At Done Right Roofing and Exteriors, we take pride in doing the job right the first time—no shortcuts, no surprises. Recently, we wrapped up a commercial project for Stone Creek Charter School in Beaver Creek,CO.  that involved installing a full asphalt shingle roofing system on a newly constructed school building, along with building a wood fence around the front perimeter.  The Challenge The client needed a dependable roofing crew based in Colorado that could get on-site quickly and deliver high-quality work on a tight timeline. In this article you can read and see how we approached this challenge. Our Approach We used Owens Corning roofing materials, known for their durability and long-term performance. The full roofing system included: 30lb synthetic felt Grace Ice & Water Shield for high-quality ice dam protection Class 4 shingles – impact-resistant and built to last These materials don’t just meet code—they exceed expectations, especially for a building that needs to stand up to changing weather and heavy use. We chose this combination of materials because when it comes to a commercial structure like a school, you’re not just building a roof—you’re building a protective system that needs to last, perform, and minimize the risk of issues over time. The 30lb synthetic felt underlayment offers a higher level of tear resistance and better performance in high-wind conditions compared to standard organic felt. It’s lightweight, easy to install, and lays flat—reducing the chance of buckling or water pooling over time. For waterproofing, Grace Ice & Water Shield is the go-to. We don’t cut corners when it comes to moisture protection, and Grace’s membrane sticks tight to decking and around nails, creating a self-sealing barrier that dramatically lowers the risk of leaks—especially in critical areas like eaves, valleys, and roof penetrations. It’s especially important in climates that get snow and freeze/thaw cycles, where water intrusion can quickly lead to mold or structural damage. Finally, the Class 4 impact-rated shingles we selected offer top-tier resistance against hail and debris—perfect for high-traffic or high-risk environments. We recommend Class 4 shingles for clients who want to reduce long-term maintenance and avoid emergency repairs after every storm. They’re also a smart investment, potentially qualifying the building for insurance discounts due to their durability rating. The fence For the fence, we built a strong, clean-lined structure using: 6×6 Cedar posts 2×6 Cedar rails We went with cedar because it’s naturally rot-resistant, insect-resistant, and holds up extremely well in outdoor environments without the need for constant treatment or sealing. It’s a top choice for projects that need both function and a polished, professional look. The 6×6 posts give the fence a sturdy base and a strong visual presence—they don’t just look solid, they are solid. You won’t get any wobble or lean over time like you might with smaller or lower-grade posts. The 2×6 rails give us the right amount of structural support while maintaining a clean profile. This size also helps prevent sagging and warping, especially important in commercial settings where longevity matters. The overall design gives the property a welcoming front without sacrificing durability or safety—exactly what you want around a public space like a school. We recommended these materials based on performance, local weather patterns, and the long-term savings they offer in terms of maintenance and replacements. In our line of work, we’ve seen what lasts and what doesn’t. Our goal is always to deliver a finished product that stands up to time, use, and the elements—so we spec the job accordingly. “You’re not just building a roof—you’re building a protective system” Timeline & Execution This job took about one week from start to finish. Our crew worked efficiently and stayed focused from day one. We also helped the client with a few additional items outside the original scope to keep their overall construction schedule on track. This level of efficiency and commitment isn’t just reserved for commercial jobs—it’s the same approach we bring to every project, no matter the size. Whether we’re roofing a school, a family home, or building a backyard fence, our crews follow the same proven work procedures, use the same high-quality materials, and maintain the same standard of craftsmanship. What allows us to move fast without cutting corners is simple: experience, preparation, and consistency. Our team knows what works and how to adapt when the unexpected comes up—which it often does in construction. Because we’ve been hands-on in the field for years, we’re able to pivot quickly, solve problems on the spot, and keep things moving without sacrificing quality. Residential clients get the same attention to detail and build quality as our commercial partners. We don’t believe in two different standards of service. When we show up to a job, we do it right, we do it clean, and we get it done on schedule. That’s how we built our reputation—and that’s how we plan to keep it. The Result The client was more than satisfied. Not only did we meet their deadline, but they appreciated the flexibility we showed in helping them get across the finish line. It’s that kind of service that keeps builders and project managers calling us back. Whether it’s a large commercial job or a residential repair, Done Right Roofing and Exteriors delivers results you can count on—done once, done right. Why Your Roof Needs Some TLC: The Top Reasons to Get a Residential Roof Inspection!

Ah, the humble roof – your home’s first line of defence against the elements, from relentless raindrops to pesky pigeons. But just like a superhero needs an occasional check-up from their trusty sidekick, your roof could benefit from some TLC too! So, grab your magnifying glass and let’s uncover the top reasons why a residential roof inspection is an absolute must:  Sneaky Leaks: Your roof is a detective, and leaks are its arch-nemesis. But fear not! A residential roof inspection can uncover those sneaky leaks lurking in the shadows, ensuring your home stays dry and cozy.   Shingle Shenanigans: Shingles may seem innocent enough, but they have a knack for mischief – curling, cracking, or even disappearing altogether! A thorough inspection will catch any shingle shenanigans before they escalate into a full-blown roofing crisis.  Gutter Goblins: Your gutters might be hiding a dark secret: clogs! These gutter goblins can wreak havoc on your roof, causing water damage and even mold growth. A roof inspection will banish these pesky pests and keep your gutters flowing freely.  Flashing Follies: Flashing may sound like something out of a superhero comic, but it’s actually a vital component of your roof’s defence system. If your flashing is damaged or missing, it could leave your home vulnerable to leaks and water damage. An inspection will ensure your flashing is up to snuff and ready to fend off any villainous invaders.  Ventilation Vampires: Ventilation may not be as glamorous as capes and cowls, but it’s essential for maintaining a healthy roof ecosystem. Poor ventilation can lead to moisture buildup, mold growth, and even premature roof aging. A roof inspection will slay those ventilation vampires and keep your roof breathing easy.  Storm Struggles: Storms may come and go, but their impact on your roof can linger long after the clouds have cleared. Whether it’s wind, hail, or flying debris, a residential roof inspection will assess any storm damage and ensure your roof is ready to weather the next tempest.  Critter Capers: From squirrels to raccoons, critters love to cozy up in your attic or crawl spaces – and they’re not shy about causing mischief along the way. A roof inspection will uncover any critter capers and fortify your home against unwanted visitors.  Energy Efficiency Enigma: Did you know that your roof plays a crucial role in your home’s energy efficiency? A poorly insulated or damaged roof can lead to energy loss and higher utility bills. A roof inspection will identify any areas where your roof could use a boost, helping you save money and reduce your carbon footprint.  Peace of Mind Power-Up: Last but not least, a residential roof inspection provides the ultimate power-up: peace of mind. Knowing that your roof is in tip-top shape means you can sleep soundly knowing that your home is protected against whatever the world throws its way.  In conclusion, a residential roof inspection is a proactive measure that offers numerous benefits, including early detection of damage, extended roof lifespan, protection of your investment, safety and security, streamlined insurance claims, improved energy efficiency, cost savings, and peace of mind. Don’t overlook the importance of regular roof inspections – schedule one today to ensure your home remains safe, secure, and structurally sound for years to come.

Keep them clean and free of debris to prevent water from pooling and causing leaks. Trust me, your roof will thank you with a standing ovation!  Trim Those Tree Tangles: Trees may provide shade and serenity, but their overhanging branches can wreak havoc on your roof. Give those branches a trim to prevent them from becoming tangled in your roof’s affairs. It’s like giving your roof a stylish haircut!  Flashing Flash Mob: Flashing is the unsung hero of your roof, sealing joints and keeping water out like a boss. Make sure your flashing is in good shape and not pulling any disappearing acts. After all, no one likes a flashy flasher!  Ventilation Vacation: Your roof needs to breathe too! Ensure proper ventilation to prevent moisture buildup and mold growth. Think of it as giving your roof a breath of fresh air – it’ll thank you with clear skies and sunny days!  HVAC Happy Hour: Keep an eye on your HVAC units and any other rooftop equipment. Make sure they’re properly secured and not causing any mischief that could lead to roof damage. It’s like playing referee for your roof’s rooftop party! Slope Sleuthing: Check for any signs of ponding water or uneven slopes on your roof. A perfect pitch playing field is essential to prevent water from pooling and causing leaks. Think of it as a rooftop game of “The Floor is Lava” – except with water!  Sealant Shenanigans: Don’t let your roof’s sealant dry up and crack like an old joke! Keep it fresh and pliable to ensure a watertight seal. It’s like giving your roof a spa day – who knew roofs enjoyed a little pampering?  Weather Watchdog: Keep an eye on the weather forecast and prepare your roof for any impending storms. Secure loose items and make sure your roof is ready to weather the storm like a seasoned sailor. It’s like playing weatherman for your roof – except with better accuracy!  Professional Pals: Sometimes, even the quirkiest roof enthusiast needs a little professional help. Don’t hesitate to call in the experts for any roofing repairs or maintenance tasks beyond your DIY repertoire. It’s like calling in the cavalry – except with ladders and safety harnesses! By prioritizing regular inspections, addressing issues promptly, and investing in professional maintenance when needed, you can ensure that your commercial roof remains in optimal condition for years to come. Remember, proactive maintenance is key to protecting your investment and avoiding costly repairs down the line.

Looking to crown your commercial establishment with a sturdy roof that’ll make even the clouds envious? Selecting the right roofing company for your commercial needs is like choosing the perfect superhero for your building – it must be reliable, sturdy, and maybe a little flashy. So, let’s dive into the top 10 things you absolutely can’t overlook when on the hunt for your commercial roofing savior:  License to Thrill: Before anything else, ensure your roofing knight comes equipped with a shiny license. This isn’t just a piece of paper; it’s a superhero cape that signifies credibility and expertise. No capes, no go!   Insurance: The Safety Net: Batman has his utility belt, and your roofing company should have insurance. Make sure they’re covered with both liability and worker’s compensation insurance. You don’t want any unexpected villains crashing the party.   Weather Wisdom: Your roofer should be a meteorologist in disguise, or at least have a keen understanding of weather patterns in your area. Knowing how Mother Nature behaves will help them choose the best materials and techniques to keep your roof standing tall against her tantrums.   Reviews Are King: Don’t trust just any old sidekick; trust the ones who’ve saved the day before. Check out online reviews and testimonials to see if your potential roofing company has a history of rescuing damsels (or buildings) in distress.   Materials Matter: Just like Tony Stark wouldn’t settle for second-rate materials in his Iron Man suit, you shouldn’t settle for anything less than top-notch roofing materials. Quality materials equal durability and longevity – two essential ingredients for a roof that stands the test of time.   Estimates: The Crystal Ball: No one likes surprises, especially when it comes to the bill. Make sure your roofing company provides detailed estimates upfront, so you know exactly what you’re getting into. No hidden fees allowed in this superhero squad!   Communication Is Key: Robin couldn’t save Gotham without Batman, and your roofing project can’t succeed without clear communication. Ensure your roofer is responsive, transparent, and keeps you in the loop every step of the way.   Warranty Warriors: Every superhero needs a backup plan, and your roof is no different. Make sure your roofing company offers solid warranties on both labour and materials. You never know when a villainous leak might try to sneak its way in!   Local Legends: Support your local heroes! opt for a roofing company that knows the ins and outs of your community. They’ll be more invested in your project and readily available for any follow-up missions that may arise.   Green Guardians: Finally, let’s save the planet while we’re at it! Look for roofing companies that offer eco-friendly solutions and prioritize sustainability. After all, even superheroes need to do their part to save the world.   By carefully considering these factors, you can choose a roofing company that meets your commercial roofing needs with confidence and peace of mind. Investing in a reputable and experienced roofing contractor is essential to protecting your business and ensuring the long-term integrity of your commercial property’s roof.
